But cart I did! Why? Wouldn't a skilled speedrunner be able to avoid carting? The answer is NO! Speedrunners probably have more carts per hour than even average players, because the playstyle is super reckless! Every speedrun you see posted here is a one-in-a-hundred mix of both skill and luck that is created with many, many attempts. I used to run the meta sets online, and would only very rarely cart. It only makes sense if you plan to reset when you get hit. Speedrunners fishing for a perfect run will drop health boost, stun resist, evade extender, etc all for a few more levels of attack boost and a point in agitator.
MONSTER HUNTER WORLD SPEED RUN FULL
That's 94% of the damage in exchange for full points in health boost and stun resist! Are you crazy? When you do, they're even more similar! My set gets to 480 EFR, while the meta hits 510.

It has about 36 more true raw, which is less than 10%, and that's before you factor in demondrug, might seed, powder and attack up L. Here is the "meta" version of the same build. It can be optimized too, but this one doesn't need any AT pieces. That also means white sharpness, blast procs, and razor sharp. Luna helm gives evade extender 2 and 2 more level 2 slots.įor example, you can get crit boost 3, WE 3, MM 3, crit eye 4, Attack Boost 1, health boost 3, stun resist 3, peak performance 3, and evade extender 2 with stamina cap up and health augment on any Luna weapon with endgame armor. Luna pants give HB 2 and 2 level 2 slots.

You can get stun resist 3 and crit boost 2 from one KT piece. Survival armor is usually crazy efficient compared to dps sets. You can get 95% (literally 95%) as much dps with a build that runs health boost, stun resist, and evade extender or whatever else you want. People who copy the speedrun meta online are wrong. I'm a casual speedrunner at mhw, my hunts with meta builds (all 14 weapons) are on average like 2-5 minutes, and I've noticed on this subreddit that people usually act like you can either have damage skills or survivability.Įndless posts bemoan the dps meta and blame it for online carts, but just as common is the argument that dps builds add 50% or more damage to a weapon.īut that's only compared to a 0 damage build! The actual best builds in mhw compromise between the two extremes, building both damage and survivability to the point where diminishing returns make further investment very niche.
